Linseed oil is a traditionally used vegetable solvent for oil painting. It serves to dilute paints and increase the brightness and brilliance of their colors.
Linseed oil for painting “Maimeri” is made from an extract of ground and pressed flax seeds, subjected to additional processing in order to purify and increase resistance to light and moisture. Intended for artistic purposes, flax oil has a slight yellowish tint and has a soft glossy finish. It is used to dilute thick oil paints, which not only makes it easier to apply and erase traces of the brush used, but also increases the transparency and depth of the applied layers. Compared to other oil paint mediums, linseed oil dries quickly. When dry, there is a tendency to slightly yellow. It can be diluted with turpentine.
The refined flaxseed oil of “Maymeri” is available in glass bottles with a capacity of 1 liter and plastic 100 ml.
