Turn almost any surface into a toned or black base for watercolor painting, as well as for collages, pastels, pencils, and mixed media. Mars Black makes our fluorescent watercolors stand out and also provides an exciting, unexpected backdrop for all your standard watercolor paints. Soft pastel, graphite and watercolor pencils appear beautifully on both semi-color and black. Apply straight from the container using a foam brush or synthetic brush for a more textured finish. For the smoothest surface, apply very thin layers with a foam brush, allow to dry well between coats. Curing: to allow the watercolor base to reach the correct degree of absorption, allow the watercolor base to dry and cure for at least 24 hours (depending on humidity) after the last coat.
