Turpentine oil is a traditionally used oil painting additive, serving to dilute and dissolve oil paints in order to better apply them and change the brightness and transparency of colors.
The turpentine essence of ‘Maimeri’ is extracted from conifers and is an essential oil with a thick consistency and transparent color. It has a pungent pine aroma and a slight yellowish tint. This shade is the reason for the tendency to yellowing of oil paints mixed with the emulsion, which occurs when they dry. In addition to enhancing colors, turpentine oil can also be used as a thinner to clean brushes and palettes from oil residue.
Turpentine essence “Maimeri” is available in a glass bottle with a capacity of 75 ml. The oil is highly flammable, therefore it must be stored in a cool, dark place, in a tightly closed container.
